Nature's Calling
A Mindful Outdoor Experience for Men
Welcome to a retreat where we aren't retreating from anything. In partnership with Mother Nature, we'll embark on a journey toward transformation - manifesting a new lived experience. Immerse in the more than human world to deepen connection with self, environment, and other guys. Explore and set a pace for how you show up in the world. And, with expert guidance, expand your awareness of - and build harmony between - body, mind, and spirit. Gain a deeper understanding about how to nourish and move, as well as build confidence in being you.

PAUSE. BREATHE. EXPLORE.
Experience the transformative power of nature in our men's retreat guided by expert insights of Atlanta-based therapists for men and Certified Mindful Outdoor Guide. This extended weekend offers an opportunity to reconnect with yourself and others in a serene natural setting. Engage in mindfulness practices, hiking, and community building to foster deeper connections. With the guidance of Mother Nature, rediscover a sense of purpose and enhance your well-being. Join us to rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit in a peaceful and supportive environment.
Some guys join us simply to experience a slower, more intentional pace - away from demands, screens, and notifications - to participate in their lives with more meaning and purpose. Some guys are feeling isolated and lonely, and want meaningful connection beyond work or family. Many guys join us feeling disconnected, stressed, overwhelmed, or generally discontent. These feelings are understandable with confusion about how to be male and where we fit in times of evolution. All come to experience the inherent benefits of returning to our natural habitat - nature. At the root of our work is more clearly knowing oneself and learning how to effectively prioritize what's personally important for self and within our relationships.
We are not teaching anyone how to be men. Instead, we’re offering each person the skills, space, and opportunity to connect with who you really are, while also forging new meaningful connections with other guys. Invitations during this retreat include: mindful hiking, nature meditation, time and space for introspection, personal challenges and group adventure. Additionally, we offer expert guidance and insight on aligning self and integrated systems, mindfully connecting with nature and Place, and building a foundation of gratitude and compassion for more resilient and sustainable well-being.
Within this natural setting, we’ll immerse ourselves in this healing, majestic, and honest place, in order to emerge more confident, content, rested, and connected.
In this immersion, you can expect to learn about yourself, connect with other guys and the abundant life in nature, learn to participate in the world and relationships more meaningfully. We’ll be using techniques and guidance from Mindful Response MethodTM, Mindful Outdoor Experiences, CHEKTM practices, and collective personal experiences as foundations for learning and growing with plenty of relaxation and adventure.

NATURE
Return home to our original and natural habitat - Nature. Rekindle that deep knowing and connection to Place. Restore reserves for gratitude, compassion (for self and others), and the day-to-day. Be a part of the natural world in new and interesting ways.
IDENTITY
Come as you are. Reconnect with your truest self. Be you! Trees don't judge, and neither do we. Identify what is most important to you, and practice prioritizing it. Identity has become misrepresented, such that we are defined by what and how much we do. Two things are true on this retreat, and in our lives - our value is inherent, and contentment is not the same as complacency. We celebrate our wins while continuing to put effort into growth.
CONNECTION
Enjoy a laid-back extended weekend with other guys. No pressure to perform or be anyone or anything other than yourself. Engage in conversation beyond work, obligations, and social posts. Put your phone down for 4 days, and feel your nervous system relax, recharge, and reset. Not only are you bonding with others and connecting with nature, you're reconnecting with self.
MISOGI
Embark on a journey of self exploration and personal challenge toward transformation. Inspired by the Shinto Japanese tradition of "misogi", we will experience a challenging hike that will invite you to become acquainted with your limits, and renegotiate them. We'll travel as a united group, but this is just as much for the individual as for the collective. No one is obligated to do anything, only invited. Our goal is not conquering, but learning about ourselves - discerning limiting or stressful stories of past and future from facts of present experience. No all misogi are physical.
NOURISH
Enjoy intentional, purposeful, and tasty meals prepared on-site; not your typical hotdogs and chips. Instead, think salmon with vegetables and cous cous, etc. Learn to eat with the seasons, align with the natural rhythms of nature, and listen to your body.
HOLISTIC HEALTH
Recalibrate harmony between mind, body, and spirit (not religion, but connection to all living things). Learn simple and effective ways to prepare for physical activity/movement, rest, eating, and sleeping. Learn new ways to experience thoughts and feelings - as messengers rather than facts. Practice simple, approachable, and sustainable mindfulness (meditation, walking, living).

More about your your Men's Retreat
"Nature permits us the opportunity, free of distractions of the city, to ask the fundamental question, 'Who am I; what is my purpose here?'" - Ken Burns
By the time you leave these forested mountains, you'll notice a sense of calm, contentment, and connection, which is all yours to take with you. Everything you learn and experience, here, is approachable and sustainable on your own.
Even if you've been camping and hiking before, even if you already have a mindfulness or meditation practice, even if you already have friends, you may be amazed by the new depths you'll be able to reach when you have an uninterrupted safe space to press pause on the speed and chatter of your busy life, and immerse yourself in nature's restorative properties in this way. No judgment, obligations, notifications, screens, or distractions.
Though this experience is cathartic and deeply enriching, it is neither therapy, nor a religious/faith-based retreat. We welcome any adult identifying as male and able to navigate forested mountain terrain.
* A portion of this retreat will involve a hike between 6 and 11 miles round trip (depending on group preference), as part of a misogi experience. Misogi is a personal challenge, therefore, no one is obligated to complete all 11 miles. This is more about discovering and negotiating your limits - not ignoring or blowing through them. This hike will be at a mindful pace with many stops along the way for guided practices and lunch. We value and endorse self-determination. If your body says stop, one of us will stop with you. You will still get to experience all practices if you decide to stop the hike early.
** Due to the terrain, elements, and physical requirements to traverse the land, this retreat is suitable for able-bodied individuals, only. Please be mindful of your limitations. We will be hiking and sleeping outdoors.
