What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is an approach to healing and wellbeing that incorporates evidence-based practices of yoga as well as the ancient philosophies of yoga to address care that is personalized and promotes eudaimonic wellbeing. Eudaimonia is a Greek word used in the work of Aristotle translating to highest human good. When all the facets of our human experience are acknowledged, addressed, and aligned, we are living our highest good and we flourish.
Within the yoga therapy setting, we will explore a range of personalized assessments, goal setting, and lifestyle management that will guide us toward practices that support your healing and wellbeing. You can expect movement, breath work, meditation, and more. It's important to keep in mind that yoga therapy is completely adaptable to each individual. You do not need experience with any of yoga's practices in order to do yoga therapy. This is a supportive space for you to discover and connect with your whole, unique self.

Aspects of the Human Experience
PHYSICAL
Anything that pertains to the physical body - muscles, bones, organs, soft tissue, etc. Physical ailments addressed here will also weave into the other aspects of our lives, and vice versa. You need not be in physical pain to benefit from yoga therapy.
ENERGETIC
The energetic body can relate to the nervous system and our breath, how we take in energy and how we release energy. Think of how you feel overall when your energy is low or high, and when your energy is well-balanced.
MENTAL and EMOTIONAL
Thoughts, feelings, emotions.
INTELLECTUAL
Ability to be discerning, the higher mind, belief systems, self-awareness.
SPIRITUAL
Connection to something outside of yourself . Ability to experience awe, wonder, gratitude, hope, and faith.
“Yoga therapy is that facet of the ancient science of Yoga that focuses on health and wellness at all levels of the person: physical, psychological, and spiritual. Yoga therapy focuses on the path of Yoga as a healing journey that brings balance to the body and mind through an experiential understanding of the primary intention of Yoga: awakening of Spirit, our essential nature.”
