Our lives and world have always been stressful, but now more than ever, we need to make time for self care.
These groups are a great opportunity for yourself or your child to connect with others,
experience creativity as a form of coping and personal growth,
and help improve overall well-being.
To allow each group member time to share and promote connection among participants,
groups sizes are limited, so register early!
Middle School
Girls Group
March 11 - April 29
7 Week Group
will not meet week of 4/8 due to many school's break
Thursday's 5- 6pm
This group is designed to engage teen girls in an interactive experience that will allow them to learn that they are not alone in their experiences of being a teen and to understand more about themselves and their world.
This virtual group will focus on coping skills, time management tools for online school, staying grounded and connected during unprecedented times, self-confidence building, and more!
Each week will center around a different topic and creative art project such as:
- self-care/coping skill box
- Who Am I artwork
- collage
- art with found objects in nature
This group will be a great way to meet new friends and a safe space to process your current stressors as well as utilize art making as a creative
tool to express emotions.
Altered Books
for High Schoolers

Altering a book gives you the ability
to take control of your own story
when you feel like the world around you is a little out of control.
This group will teach various techniques on how to utilize a used book as an art journal to process current stressors and as a creative outlet for your emotions.
You will be given several thought provoking journaling prompts and project ideas each week
Some activities will be:
- pocket making
- black out poetry
- collage
- watercolor
- using found objects from nature
This group will be a great way to learn more about yourself and provides a safe space to process your current stressors and utilize the creative process as a coping skill.
Altered Books
for Adults
7 Week Group

Learn how to be the author of your own story through the artistic expression of utilizing a used book as an art journal.
This can be your favorite book or any book you would like to use. Altering a book allows you to take control of your narrative, process the difficult parts of your story, and be your own hero/heroine.
You will be given several thought provoking journaling prompts as well as projects each week which will include but are not limited to:
- pocket making
- black out poetry
- collage
- watecolors
- using found objects in nature
This group will be a great way to learn more about yourself and provides a safe space to process your current stressors and utilize the creative process as a coping skill.
Fee for group is $350, just $50/meeting
All groups are facilitated by Katie Powers who is a Counselor and Registered Art Therapist. Learn more about Katie
Before the start of group, you will be emailed a list of necessary/suggested art materials
as well as details regarding the virtual HIPAA compliant platform for group meetings.

Registration for group includes all 7 weeks
No refund will be given for missed groups, but details of the project/activity missed will be provided
For The Middle School Girls Group and Altered Books for High Schoolers
All new clients to The Peaceful Place will need to schedule an initial assessment for group
This assessment is to make sure that the group is a good fit for your child and can address their needs.
