Introducing Dave Terraso, MSW

Updated: Jun 16, 2022

Please join us in welcoming Dave Terraso, MSW to The Peaceful Place!

Dave has long been driven to help people. Before becoming a therapist, Dave's career was in journalism, and then public relations for the higher ed/non-profit/medical crowd. And, although he's still a writer, he's poised to fulfill a dream of helping people directly through therapy. A people-person, Dave has a talent for relating to people and creating a safe space for sharing. Additionally, he is adept at guiding people as they heal themselves.

Dave is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and is currently engaged in Level 1 EMDR consultation. He is also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In addition to working at The Peaceful Place, Dave facilitates DBT skills groups at Online Therapy of Atlanta.

While earning his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Georgia, Dave completed a clinical internship at Laurel Heights Hospital where he remains a PRN therapist for adolescents. Also while pursuing his MSW, Dave Substance Abuse treatment and Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, he is in the process of completing certification through the American Academy of Sexuality Educators (AASE) with Anni Tuikka, LPC, CST and the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS).

Currently, Dave provides Individual Therapy for adults and adolescents of all genders and sexual identities. Although his clinical area of focus is in trauma, he aims to aid those struggling with depression, anxiety, and recovery from abuse, whether from another person, or with substances or alcohol. He is particularly placed to assist male clients as they work through issues around relationships and self-growth.

Before UGA, Dave earned his Masters of Science in Journalism from Columbia University, and was awarded Bachelor's degrees in both Radio-Television-Film and Government from the University of Texas.

Dave loves to learn, and wishes to network with professionals in the Atlanta area who are interested in sharing their knowledge. To learn more about Dave, click here.
